Detectives Logan and Wheeler investigate the murder of a police recruit whose decomposed body is found in the trunk of a car. Both of them try to determine whether his "legendary heroism" in breaking up a bodega robbery is the reason for his murder, but soon find that the victim's girlfriend had mysteriously vanished. In the meantime, Logan befriends and dates his attractive neighbor, but after she stands him up on the second date, it turns out she was dead, leading Logan to be distracted from the first murder. Elsewhere, Detective Eames assists Wheeler, and the end results are quite disturbing and surprising, once they uncover a young woman, who was inspired by the crimes of Detective Goren's long-standing nemesis Nicole Wallace, is the real murderer.
